Los Trabajadores
Hey!!
Hows it goin??
This week was a good week, as always
We had a little bit more success this week than others and we also had a lot of meetings this week. It was a fun time so I will just jump right into it. On Tuesday, we had an exchange with the district leader and it was good!! I was put in the English area again and it was a good time. I almost met a pro volleyball player but he wasn't home. His wife was though. The exchange was good so it was fun. The next fun thing we did is that we bought an extra case of water and we had like a million oranges as you know. So what we did is we put it all in the back and went to give them all out to the Mexican workers who were working on the upper class houses here. At first when we started to try and find them, there weren't a lot. But, we started to find them and then all the sudden, we found an entire neighborhood being constructed!! We walked through and I took like an hour video as well as we gave them all oranges and water as they were working. They were really grateful and we got a few numbers for english class and gave out plenty of pamphlets. None of them lived in Camarillo sadly haha but it was very fun so we are going to do it again!!
Gabriela is finally out of quarantine. She had something go on with her niece now and at 9 months old she is in the emergency room. She got out of quarantine yesterday but we got a member involved and the member brought her food!! The problem now is getting her to keep her commitments, she said she could join a stake conference this sunday over zoom and we called her the day before to remind her, called her the morning after that and she didn't answer. She never called us back either. I don't know how familiar she is with technology much but we got to get things moving. We found a couple new promising people in the area but everyone is a slow cooking crockpot.
This Thursday and Friday we had a mission tour with President Brag. He came and he spoke to us and did the best he could to help us become better missionaries which was really good!! It helped us a lot and it was very fun as well to see him. That was 2 days, one over zoom the other over in person. Sadly he got covid when we were supposed to meet in person haha so he was still on a screen.
We met someone named Dominic but he is probably a hand off to the English Elders like usual. He was different though. He came up to us after we had knocked a dot that should not have existed and then we caught him just coming home as we were leaving. He came at me very intimidatingly, questioning me a lot and very forcefully. He proceeded to calm down and tell us about these tattoos he had from Mexico of the Mayans and aztecs. He told us that he needed our book to find answers. I told him he came to the right place as he proceeded to tell us again that he knew a lot of stories had been perverted that were passed down and he wanted the truth. This is going to be fun.
Last thing is food of course haha. On today's episode of: Elders Cooking. What did we cook this week?? Lemme tell ya...
starting out basic you see a wonderful homemade mexican burrito. which side note on this, We decided to talk salsa to the members and they loved it!! They were texting me where I got the recipe from and were super grateful. I guess my mom's salsa really is the best when Hispanics want the recipe
We branch out now as we can see what seems to be pasta in a burrito??? Yes it is. Inspired by my good old friend Wild Zucchini, We decided to replicate. Boy was that good
Last we see, los nachos. crowded with slow cooked chicken and homemade beans, salsa cheese etc.
I could go more but this email is very big haha.
Thank you all for your love and support. If you have any advice on gabriela i will take it! Thanks for reading my essay. I love you all and have a great week!!
