First Week In The Field

 Hey everyone!! I'm sorry if I like resent an email or something of the sort my Gmail is absolutely broken which is so dumb. I might send my updates some different way but I don't know yet. Anyways lots to tell this week.

I flew this last Monday into my mission, said goodbye to my district and woke up at 5 and took the train to the airport. We had a layover in Vegas and the airport is just like The strip. Terrible and dirty. Someone bought a ton of missionaries food in the airport which was so cool. Flew into Santa Barbara and had dinner. Me and elder Johnson slept at a members home which was super cool. We woke up and went to the mission office for breakfast and some meetings. We met our companions too!! Im in a trio wirh Elder Larsen and Elder teichert. They both are super cool. Elder teichert is my trainer and he is following up training Elder Larsen. The area we were assigned was Santa paula. The place is iffy haha. This ventura area was not how it was described to me haha. This place is Def mini Mexico. We have running water and stuff but like so many people don't speak English and the area is just a lot rougher not gonna lie haha. I love it though. I love teaching and I love being here. It's tough at times but it is really fun. 

On Tuesday this week, I didn't even get to settle in when my comps picked me up. We went straight to a lesson haha. We taught a man named Luis. He is very sick because he was like in an explosion at work or something and they aren't paying for his medical bills. We then went to marias who does not speak English. Many people do and many don't. We went shopping the next day to get just a couple things. It's fun hanging with my comps. Elder Larsen has only been out for 1 transfer so it's cool he is learning too. We taught tons of lessons. The work is different than I thought it is tough. We don't work as much as i thought we would. We wake up and exercise then eat then get ready then study then lunch then study and maybe a couple lessons. Then dinner then we grind. We work a ton. Prime time is 5-9. The next few days were just classic Missionary work. That same schedule. We met interesting people and had a good time everyday. We met a man named Adam. I don't think we leaves his car. We have found him a couple times and he is just sitting in his car in his driveway. He had cancer and I guess the chemo messed him up or something. He's super cool but he is kinda lazy. He has to get up and do something but he won't haha. I told him my cancer story and he likes me a lot now haha... I think. I also met a man named Leo who is super cool haha. He has 2 huge desert tortoises. He is super chill and hopefully he is baptized soon. 

I also met who we call the crazy kids. They are 12 year old girls who are crazy haha. They talk about fights and give us nicknames. The past missionaries visited them often I guess haha. I met them and they gave me the nickname ocean eyes because they said they couldn't find anything wrong with me haha. Elder Larsens name is monkey ears and Elder teicherts nickname is curly something I cant remember. But ya haha. They also think I'm a prodigy cuz I play like the melody of any song on the piano by ear. Not special but they have never seen it haha. Super fun though. Right after we talked to the crazy kids a man called us over and asked for a come follow me and more study materials he was super interested. My goal is to Baptize him this transfer haha. He was so nice and new a lot, wasn't a member and asked for us. Super cool. We taught more lessons and met cool people. 

Another person we met was luis (different one) and Peter. They are buds. We stopped by and it was a group having a small party outside for a birthday. It was probs 10 or 15 people. We started talking and boy they are so cool but so interesting. They were catholic. By the way, literally like everyone is catholic haha. Super hard to teach. I've been rejected a million times. Like I will knock say hi and they will just close the door. But Anyways, luis and Peter the 2 main guys were catholic. Luis had some crazy view points haha. He said that once you marry a women the women is his property haha. He also said that a guy can cheat whenever but a girl cant. He also quote" doesn't remember choosing if he was straight or gay".  Haha some other stuff super weird but he was way dope. He said people tell him the "mormons" are terrible but he really likes us haha. Peter was in gangs and all this stuff but now he owns horses!! He said he would take us but it'd against the rules so I will convert him and just come back. They both do about everything bad u can think of haha super funny but like actually really nice. They fed us carne asada too. There are Def worse areas in my mission but I was told fancy cars and nice Cool stores etc. But nope haha. Super cool though I love it. 

Spanish is super hard to learn but i think im getting it haha. I think I'm too hard on myself but who knows. Hopefully I get better and the lords work will continue. I love you all and I will write next week hopefully!!! So much pictures of me in the mtc and meeting my comps and new district!! Also I can only email non family members once every preparation day.  Hopefully I remembered everything this week you guys it was hard to keep track of 2 weeks in a row haha. Peace!!
